There are ATMs located in the main lobby pavilion at Memorial University Medical Center and outside of the cafeteria in the lower level of the medical center. There are also several banks located within walking distance of our campus.

Cafeteria Hours

Patients staying at Memorial University Medical Center may have dietary restrictions. For their health and safety, please do not bring outside food to a patient without first checking with his or her doctor. Visitors are welcome to dine in our cafeteria, located in the lower level of the medical center.

Cafeteria hours are:

Monday through Friday

6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There is also a Subway sandwich shop in the cafeteria that is open until 7 p.m. every day. Outside of the cafeteria, food and beverages can be purchased from the snack machines located on the first floor of Memorial University Medical Center or from vendors located in the main lobby pavilion or the lobby of the Heart & Vascular Institute.

Interpretation Services
Memorial University Medical Center has access to interpreters for dozens of foreign languages and American Sign Language. We also have a telephone interpretation service that enables patients to communicate with their physicians and nurses in different languages. For assistance, call patient relations at 912-350-8581.

Spiritual Care
We understand that healing involves more than just the body, it involves the mind and spirit as well. Although religion and spirituality are closely related, they are not identical. spiritual careThat's why, in addition to prayer, our Department of Spiritual and Religious Care offers mental and emotional support for patients and their families. By offering these services, we are better able to help people experience wholeness in the healing process.

Our Department of Spiritual and Religious Care includes a team of full-time chaplains, more than 10 on-call contract chaplains, and volunteers. Our team is able to administer sacraments and conduct worship services. Other services include emotional/spiritual support, spiritual counseling/direction, assistance in accepting and coping with a diagnosis, assistance with end-of-life issues, ethical consultation, assistance with the organ/tissue donation process, and crisis intervention.

Telephones
phoneThere are telephones in our main lobby pavilion, in the lobby on each floor, and in all patient rooms. There is no charge for local calls. Long distance calls must be billed to a number outside of the hospital. Memorial University Medical Center cannot accept collect calls.

Patients may receive calls between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. To reach Memorial University Medical Center, call 912-350-8000. To dial a patient's room directly, dial 912-350-5 + the patient's room number.

Some waiting rooms and all patient rooms have television sets. Memorial University Medical Center's television system offers a variety of channels, including:

Visiting Hours
General visiting hours at Memorial University Medical Center are 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week. Some units may have different visiting hours to better accommodate the patients they serve. If you are unsure about a particular unit's visiting hours, please call 912-350-8000.

What to Bring
If you will be staying with us, please plan to bring the following items with you to make your stay more comfortable:

  • Personal essentials (toothbrush, shampoo, shaving cream, razor, deodorant, soap, etc.)
  • A nightgown or pajamas
  • A list of all medications you are currently taking (both prescription and over-the-counter drugs) along with the prescription medications you need to take each day
  • Insurance information
  • Advance directives
  • Driver's license
  • A favorite blanket or pillow
  • Books or magazines to read

If you are having a procedure in our Day Surgery Center, you do not need to bring overnight items, just bring your insurance information, medications, advance directives, and driver's license. Please leave all valuables, including cash, credit cards, and jewelry, at home.
