Senior Vice President of Human Resources
David Thaeler joined Memorial University Medical Center as senior
vice president of human resources in 2006. He has more than 19 years
of human resources management experience. Thaeler came to Savannah
from US LEC Corp., a telecommunications provider based in Charlotte.
While at US LEC, Thaeler was vice president of human resources and
oversaw recruiting, employee relations, corporate volunteerism,
organizational development and effectiveness, compensation and total
rewards, benefits, HRIS, and payroll services. During his tenure
at US LEC, his team accomplishments included the creation and implementation
of employee and management development programs, distance and Web-based
learning programs, a redesign of the internal recruiting structure
that realized a significant reduction in outside professional search
agency fees, and the creation of a human resources consultancy model.
Prior to US LEC, Thaeler held several healthcare human resources leadership positions, including serving as senior vice president of human resources at Integrated Health Services-SHS, vice president of human resources and administration at RehabWorks, Inc., and regional director of human resources, Horizon/CMS Healthcare Corporation. Outside of US LEC, Thaeler served as a board member of the Second Harvest Food Bank and was on the Diversity Council of the Carolinas.
Thaeler holds a dual master’s degree in labor and human resources
and public policy and management and a bachelor’s in business
administration from the Ohio State University Fisher College of
Business in Columbus, Ohio.
