J. D. Power and Associates "Distinguished Hospital"
Memorial University Medical Center currently holds the J.D.
Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital trophy for providing
an outstanding patient experience. We have been named a Distinguished
Hospital four years in a row.
Top Performer in National Incentive Program
In 2007, MUMC was recognized
as a top performer in the care and treatment of hip and knee replacement
patients by the groundbreaking Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS) and Premier Inc., hospital pay-for-performance project.
Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care
In 2006 and 2007, MUMC was named southeast Georgia's
only Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care by the Blue Cross
and Blue Shield Association of Georgia. Blue Distinction identifies
quality providers of cardiac care nationwide. We earned the recognition
after a thorough evaluation of our structure, processes, and care
outcomes.
Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals
Memorial University Medical Center was selected as one of the 2006 award winners in
the Solucient 100 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for
Success study. We were the only hospital in Georgia to receive
this designation. Solucient is a recognized leader in healthcare
information.
Consumer Choice Award
Memorial University Medical Center won the National Research Corporation's 2006/2007
Consumer Choice Award for being one of the nation's top hospitals.
The award recognizes hospitals that consumers identified as having
the highest quality and image.
Leapfrog Top Hospitals List
The Leapfrog Group named MUMC on its first "Top Hospitals"
list in 2006. The list is based on results from the Leapfrog Hospital
Quality and Safety Survey. We were the only hospital in Georgia
to make the list.
Most Wired
Memorial University Medical Center is currently recognized as one of the "100 Most
Wired" hospitals in America by Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. We have received this recognition every year since 2000.
In 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, we were also named one of the "Most
Wireless" hospitals for our use of wireless mobile devices.
HealthGrades
Cardiac services at MUMC are currently rated 5 stars by HealthGrades,
a leading provider of healthcare quality information. We have been
rated best in the Savannah area for clinical excellence in cardiac
services six years in a row.
Other Accreditations
Our CT services are accredited by the American College of Radiology.
The Curtis
and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI)* at Memorial
University Medical Center is approved by the American College of
Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In 2006, the ACI was a Commission
on Cancer Outstanding Achievement Award recipient. This places the
ACI in the top six percent of cancer centers surveyed. Only 30 programs
received the Outstanding Achievement Award as a result of surveys
performed in 2006.
Our Breast
Center's mammography facility and stereotactic breast biopsy imaging
facility are both accredited by the American College of Radiology. The
mammography facility is also certified by the FDA.
Our laboratory department and point-of-care services are accredited by the
College of American Pathologists.
Our sleep laboratory is certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
Our inpatient rehabilitation unit is accredited by the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission.
StrokeOne, our rapid response stroke team and community education
program, has been designated a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint
Commission. This is considered the Gold Seal of Approval for stroke
care.
