gold sealMemorial Health University Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission. Accreditation from this organization is a nationwide seal of approval that indicates a hospital meets high performance standards. We have earned a Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission.

Improving Quality While Reducing Costs
Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) was recognized for superior supply expense performance by the Premier Healthcare Alliance. Premier also recognized MUMC for its performance in a nationwide hospital quality improvement initiative.

Excellence in Bariatric Surgery
In 2008 and again in 2011, Memorial Health Bariatrics was named a Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. We were also named an Aetna Institute of Quality for bariatric surgery.

Excellence in Breast Care
Memorial University Medical Center is accredited in stereotactic breast biopsy and breast MRI by the American College of Radiology. The breast care services at the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center are accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a program of the American College of Surgeons. Our Breast Imaging Center's mammography services are accredited by the American College of Radiology and certified by the FDA. We are also designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.

Excellence in Cancer Care
The Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI) at Memorial University Medical Center earned Accreditation with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Excellence in Joint Replacement Surgery
Memorial University Medical Center was named a Blue Distinction Center for knee and hip replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield. We were also named a Center of Excellence for knee and hip replacement by Cigna Healthcare. Aetna named us an Institute of Quality for total joint replacement. And, we earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for our knee and hip replacement programs.

Excellence in Rehabilitation Care
The Rehabilitation Institute at Memorial University Medical Center earned accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Programs (CARF). This accreditation ensures our commitment to quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. The following programs are CARF accredited: Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital Comprehensive (adults), Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital Comprehensive (children and adolescents), Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital: Brain Injury Program (adults), Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs – Hospital: Stroke Specialty Program (adults).

Excellence in Spine Surgery
Memorial University Medical Center earned a 5-star rating for spine surgery from HealthGrades. (Based on the Thirteenth Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study. We received UnitedHealth Premium surgical spine specialty center designation from UnitedHealthcare. We were named a Center of Excellence for spinal fusion by Cigna Healthcare. Aetna named us an Institute of Quality for spine surgery. And, we earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for spinal fusion.

Excellence in Stroke Services
HealthGrades named us the No. 1 hospital in Georgia for overall neuroscience services, including stroke care and neurosurgery. Our stroke services received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines – Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award. We also earned the Joint commission's Gold Seal of Approval for stroke care. And, Memorial University Medical Center was the first hospital in Georgia and one of the first five in the nation to receive the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Award.

Excellence in Technology
For 12 years in a row, Memorial University Medical Center has been named one of the nation's Most Wired hospitals. The annual list, published in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine, recognizes hospitals for their use of technology to improve patient care.

Our laboratory department and point-of-care services are accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

Our CT services are accredited by the American College of Radiology.

Our sleep laboratory is certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
