President and Owner of McMillan and Associates
A native of Savannah, Charles McMillan is president and owner of
McMillan and Associates, a management, marketing, and general business
consulting firm. Before starting his business in 1983, McMillan
served for nine years as regional director of the Minority Business
Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce in Atlanta.
McMillan earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education/mathematics
from Savannah State College in 1964. He was a teacher at Johnson
High School from 1963 to 1965 and served as a Job Corps administrator
in Wyoming and Nebraska until 1966. McMillan was executive director
of community centers in Waterloo and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 1966
to 1969 before returning to Savannah.
He was executive director of the Savannah Economic Opportunity Authority from 1969 to 1972. McMillan was special assistant to the director for operations in the U.S. Department of Economic Opportunity from 1972 to 1973 and special assistant to the director in the Office of Minority Business Enterprise of the Department of Commerce from 1973 to 1974.
McMillan is active in the community and currently is on the board
of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Small and Minority
Business, the Savannah Economic Development Authority, the Savannah
branch of the NAACP, and Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, among
others. He is also the former chair of the Atlanta Federal Executive
Board.
