Savannah Center for Digestive and Liver Health
Mark Murphy, M.D., joined the Memorial University Medical Center
board of directors in 2005. Dr. Murphy grew up in Savannah and attended
college at the University of Georgia as a National Merit Scholar.
He graduated summa cum laude with honors in zoology for independent
research. Murphy then attended medical school at the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta. He completed his residency in internal medicine
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Murphy also
did his fellowship training at UNC where he served as chief GI fellow
and did independent research that led to the publication of two
book chapters, two abstracts, and one original paper.
Dr. Murphy then returned to Savannah and opened the Savannah Center
for Digestive and Liver Health with Edward Rydzak, M.D., in 1994.
The practice now includes six physicians, five mid-level providers,
and 45 employees. It is the largest gastroenterology practice in
Georgia outside of Atlanta.
