Memorial Health proudly served as the presenting sponsor of the Coastal Empire's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

This inspiring event has grown every year. In 2011, we had more than 500 survivors, more than 5,000 racers, and 600 volunteers! Mark your calendar now for the 2012 Race for the Cure on Saturday, April 21, 2012. Learn more about the Susan G. Komen Savannah Race for the Cure.
Be Part of Our Breast Health Education Program
The Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI) at Memorial University Medical Center is committed to educating women about the importance of breast care and regular preventive screenings. In April 2011, the ACI received an $18,800 grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure Coastal Georgia to share breast health education with medically underserved women, specifically African American and Hispanic/Latino women. Our goal is to reach 800 women over the course of the one-year grant.
To speak with as many women as possible, we conduct on-site presentations. Our certified breast nurse navigator, Brandy Payne, shares a video about breast health, demonstrates self-exams using touchable models, shares mammography information as well as our mammogram scheduling number (350-PINK), and answers questions. When possible, a local breast cancer survivor also addresses the group. We work to provide interpretation services for non-English speaking groups.
If you have a group of at least 50 people who want to participate in this program, please contact us Sue Adler at 912-350-8527 or adlersu1@memorialhealth.com.
