Health insurance provides tremendous peace of mind. It covers hospitalization, pregnancy care, emergency room visits, and physician visits. You never know when an injury or illness may strike. When you have health insurance, you can focus on healing and getting well, without the stress of a major financial loss.

You can purchase insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace located at www.healthcare.gov. Coverage is available to all U.S. citizens and documented immigrants. Financial help may be available for those who qualify. Qualifying health plans cannot deny coverage to any individual with a pre-existing condition.

    How to Enroll

There are several ways to enroll:

    1. By phone at 800-318-2596.
    2. Online at healthcare.gov.
    3. By appointment with a certified application counselor. Counselors are available at J.C. Lewis Health Care Center, and Curtis V. Cooper Primary Health Care. You can request an appointment online.
Memorial Health supports the Right from the Start Medicaid and PeachCare for Kids Medicaid programs. These programs are for children up to age 19 whose families meet specific income requirements. These programs are not part of the Affordable Care Act, and you can enroll for them at any time throughout the year. The Coastal Campaign for Healthy Kids provides free, in-person enrollment or renewal assistance in the following counties: Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh.
