child cancer Backus Children's HospitalThe Children's Hospital works with the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center to provide the region's only pediatric and adolescent hematology/oncology program. We see patients with anemia, hemoglobinopathies, white blood cell disorders, immunodeficiencies, bleeding or clotting disorders, and confirmed or suspected cancer.

We proudly offer a multidisciplinary treatment approach in which numerous specialists work together to ensure the very best care. Our services include blood transfusion, chemotherapy, and limited moderate sedation for procedures such as bone marrow aspiration/biopsy and lumbar punctures. We also offer a federally funded hemophilia treatment center.

The Children's Hospital is affiliated with the Children's Oncology Group (COG). Research from COG members has contributed to major treatment advances and increasing cure rates for childhood cancer. As a COG member, we offer access to the latest phase III clinical trials for children, adolescents, and young adults with cancer.
