Outpatient Center
The Backus Children's Hospital Outpatient Center provides medical
care for children ranging in age from newborn to 18 years.
The Outpatient Center is similar to a multi-specialty physician
practice, providing both primary and specialty care. Services
include regular health and well-baby checkups; care for
children with colds, ear infections, gastrointestinal problems,
or other childhood illnesses; hematology and oncology treatment;
nephrology services; care for genetic disorders; endocrinology
services; child abuse care; asthma care; infectious disease
treatment; and developmental care. The Outpatient Center
also provides follow-up care for emergency department visits
and hospital stays.
The physicians, nurses, and therapists in the Outpatient
Center are able to perform the following special procedures:

Administration of chemotherapy,
blood products, and antibiotics
• Care and maintenance of central lines
• Respiratory care including jet nebulizer and pulse oximetry
services.
The scope and complexity of the care provided varies depending
on the child’s needs. |
