Benefits

  • Our comprehensive benefits program gives you the flexibility to choose the medical plans, physician networks, and coverage levels you want, because nobody knows your needs better than you.

    Medical Plans
Two options are offered. The main difference between the plans is the amount you pay for deductibles, co-payments for office and emergency care visits, and co-insurance (your share of the cost for healthcare services).

    Dental Plans
Two plans are offered. Both allow you to use any dentist you prefer. There are no deductibles for preventive or orthodontic procedures on either plan.

    Vision Benefits
Eye care benefits are available at a low premium cost.

    Reimbursement Accounts
These accounts allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for certain benefit-related expenses, including co-payments, vision care, dental care, medical equipment, and childcare costs. Contributions are deducted from each paycheck before taxes are taken out, allowing you to save for healthcare or childcare costs while reducing your taxable income.

Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance
Full-time and part-time Team Members automatically receive basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no cost. Dependent life insurance is available to help you and your family with expenses in the event of the untimely loss of a spouse or child. Dependent life coverage must be elected and Team Members pay for coverage.

    Long-Term Disability Insurance
Should you become unable to work for an extended period of time because of sickness or injury, long-term disability insurance replaces part of your income while you are out. Full-time Team Members are automatically enrolled in long-term disability after one year of service and can start receiving payments after 120 days of disability. Payments are equal to 60 percent of your base salary, up to a maximum monthly benefit of $6,000. Team Members automatically receive this benefit at no cost.

    Retirement Plans
Memorial University Medical Center's 401k plan enables you to save for retirement. Contributions may be made on a pre-tax basis for the traditional 401k or through post-tax deductions with the Roth 401k plan.

    Military Pay
The difference in your regular base wages and military pay is reimbursed to you up to a maximum of 80 hours per year for military leave and/or training. In addition, a military leave of absence with pay shall be granted for the period of military duty/deployment during a time of engagement.

    Fitness Center Membership
Benefit-eligible Team Members receive a free membership to FitnessOne, our on-site gym and wellness center. Team Members can take advantage of exercise equipment and classes, lifestyle improvement classes, health screenings, and more.

    Voluntary Benefit Choices
Memorial University Medical Center offers several voluntary benefit plans designed to give you and your family additional security. These benefits include accident insurance, short-term disability, whole life insurance, critical illness insurance, auto and homeowners insurance, and legal plan coverage. All voluntary plan premiums are paid fully by the Team Member on an after-tax basis.

    Tuition Assistance
Actual uncovered costs for tuition, books, supplies, and lab fees are reimbursed at 100 percent, up to a maximum of $4,200 per calendar year, for approved courses of study. Courses approved for reimbursement must be relevant to your current position or the specific needs of the organization. The annual limit for approved graduate degree course work is $5,250 per Team Member.

    Adoption Assistance
Memorial University Medical Center will reimburse up to $5,000 of qualified expenses of an eligible adoption for full-time Team Members.

    Employee Health
Employee Health is an on-site clinic that offers free healthcare services for Team Members. Services include a pre-employment health screen, first aid, vaccinations, and annual health screens.

Paid Time Off/Plus Security (Paid Sick Leave)
Time-off hours are accrued each pay period and may be used for vacation, holidays, personal illness of less than four days, family illness, or other personal reasons. Extended illness hours are accrued each pay period and can be used for an illness, injury, or condition requiring a physician's care for four or more days, bereavement in the immediate family, or one day of outpatient surgery.
