Kate Doyle, M.S., Research Technician/Safety Officer, Laboratory Oncology Research
Since high school, I've known I wanted a career in science. At the end of 2007, I was quick to apply for an opportunity to join Memorial University Medical Center’s newly created cancer research facility. I knew this would be my chance to get one of the very few academic-based science jobs available in Savannah. I began my career at Memorial in a multi-faceted role that allowed me to provide support to the research lab and interface with clinicians. Within a year, I was able to expand my responsibilities and set the foundation for our tissue bank’s specimen collection protocols. I then moved into a role that allows me to participate in cutting-edge cancer research. I also support the labs as a safety officer. I enjoy my work and learn new things every day. Not everybody can say that about his or her job, which is why I’m proud to “Be One of Us.”
