What is Home Care?

Home care is simply skilled care services you receive at home. For more than 100 years, people in the United States have been receiving home care. Typical services provided by agencies include nursing, therapy, and social services. People most likely to benefit from home care include individuals recovering from illness or injury, chronically ill individuals with special medical needs, or adults with declining physical abilities or a newly diagnosed illness.

Home care is an excellent alternative to longer hospital stays. In addition, home care can allow senior adults to live more independently at home rather than move to a nursing home or assisted living facility. Home care allows people to receive the care they need in the comfort of their own homes.
