Vascular Surgery
At Memorial University Medical Center, vascular
surgery is performed in a state-of-the-art, fully equipped endovascular
surgical suite. The suite, called OR 20, was the first of its kind
in the region. The surgeons of Savannah
Vascular Institute use OR 20's highly specialized services and
the latest technologies to treat vascular disease. Vascular disease
causes hardening and narrowing of the arteries. Left untreated,
it can lead to limb loss, stroke, or death.
Today, a growing number of vascular operations
are performed with catheters alone or with minor incisions rather
than large cuts. Often, patients who undergo these less invasive
procedures experience reduced recovery time, less discomfort, and
less pain following the operation. The Heart & Vascular Institute
is pleased to offer minimally invasive surgical options through
OR 20.
