The Future is Now The future of cancer care lies in the hands of researchers. Scientists are studying every aspect of cancer -- where it comes from, how it grows, and how to stop it. Their discoveries today will become the breakthrough treatments of tomorrow. Researchers at the William and Iffath Hoskins Center for Biomedical Research at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga., are studying the molecular genetics of cancer. They are working to understand the genetic bases of cancer predisposition and cancer development. Their research will affect the way we prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. When they make a scientific discovery, they work closely with physicians to move the information quickly from the laboratory to the patient bedside, a process known as translational research. The Hoskins Center is one of only a few facilities in the country conducting translational research on the molecular genetics of cancer. Our scientists' work has the potential to change the future of cancer care.
