The inheritance of breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers, as well as
the ethical, legal, and social issues related to genetic predispositions
to cancer.
Biography
C. Shai Huffard-King, M.S., CGC, came to Savannah from New York, N.Y., where she
practiced as a prenatal and preconception genetic counselor in the Division
of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital. She earned
her bachelor's degree in biology and psychology from Virginia Tech. in
Blacksburg, Va. She received her master's degree in human genetics from
Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, N.Y. During her training, Huffard-King
completed many rotations, including a cytogenetics laboratory rotation
at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island; pediatric clinical
genetics rotations at Blythdale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, N.Y.,
and Columbia University Medical Center in New York, N.Y.; and cancer genetics
at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, UMDNJ, New Brunswick, N.J. Huffard-King
practices as a cancer genetic counselor
at Clinical Genetics Associates in the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer
Institute at Memorial Health University Medical Center. In November 2007 Huffard-King became board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
