Biography
John Risinger, Ph.D., came to Savannah from the laboratory of biosystems
and cancer at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md. Risinger
completed his undergraduate degree at Albright College in Reading, Pa.,
and earned his Master of Science degree in biology from the University
of Virginia. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in genetics and molecular
biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Risinger worked for 11 years as a biologist in the Laboratory of Molecular Carcinogenesis at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences before moving to the Laboratory of Biosystems and Cancer at the National Cancer Institute.
He has written more than 70 papers and has authored or co-authored three
book chapters. Risinger reviews articles for several prestigious scientific
and clinical journals. He is a recognized leader in the study of the molecular
genetics of endometrial cancer. Risinger was named a Distinguished Cancer
Scientist by the Georgia Cancer Coalition.
