Robert D. Hoffman, M.D.
Dr. Hoffman is one of the physician champions who helped to establish Memorial Bone & Joint. He received his medical degree from Duke University and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Iowa. Dr. Hoffman then served four years as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States Navy. He specializes in surgery of the knee and shoulder and is the chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery at Memorial University Medical Center. Dr. Hoffman practices at Chatham Orthopaedic Associates. |

James F. Holtzclaw, M.D.
Dr. Holtzclaw is a physician champion for Memorial Bone & Joint. He provides ongoing leadership for the program. Dr. Holtzclaw completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University and his medical school education at Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Holtzclaw then completed a trauma fellowship in Innsbruck, Austria, and Bern, Switzerland. He specializes in orthopedic trauma, adult reconstruction, and total joint replacement surgery. He practices at Chatham Orthopaedic Associates.

H. Clark Deriso, M.D.
Dr. Deriso graduated from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his internship at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. Dr. Deriso then did his residency training in orthopedic surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He has his own private practice in Savannah. |

Mark A. Jenkins, D.O.
Dr. Jenkins completed his undergraduate studies at Armstrong Atlantic State University. He then attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and interned at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received additional training in orthopedic trauma in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Jenkins has special interest in arthroscopy, foot and ankle surgery, and complete fracture care. He practices at Chatham Orthopaedic Associates. |

Greer E. Noonburg, M.D.
Dr. Noonburg earned his medical degree at Dartmouth. His completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Madigan Army Medical Center with affiliated training at Harborview Medical Center and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Clinic. Dr. Noonburg spent a year in Iraq with the 240th Forward Surgical Team, treating wounded U.S. soldiers, Iraqi civilians, and insurgents. He also served several tours with the U.S. Army Special Forces (before and after medical school), with overseas assignments throughout the Far East and Southeast Asia. Dr. Noonburg specializes in sports medicine and related injuries, as well as shoulder and knee reconstruction/replacement. He practices at Chatham Orthopaedic Associates. |

Spencer M. Wheeler, M.D.
Dr. Wheeler graduated from the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy before receiving his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his internship and residency training at the University of Florida. He then completed sports medicine fellowships in Baltimore, Maryland, and Sydney, Australia. Dr. Wheeler was one of the founding Sports Medicine physicians in Savannah. He specializes in arthroscopy of the shoulder and knee and treats general orthopedic problems. Dr. Wheeler practices at Chatham Orthopaedic Associates. |

Edward J. Whelan, III, M.D.
Dr. Whelan is one of our physician champions and was instrumental in helping us launch Memorial Bone & Joint. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Whelan was the first surgeon in the Savannah to offer the anterior approach to hip replacement surgery and continues to train other surgeons in this technique. He practices at Southeastern Orthopedic Center.

Mark A. Winchell, M.D. Dr. Winchell graduated from the University of Missouri and completed his residency training at St. Louis University Health Sciences Center in Missouri. He completed a research fellowship in osteoarthritis while training. He specializes in general orthopedics for children and adults. Dr. Winchell's private practice is Savannah Bone and Joint. |

Kent E. Woo, M.D.
Dr. Woo earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency training at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship at the Adult Reconstruction/Joint Replacement Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Woo specializes in hip, knee, and shoulder replacement. He practices at Southeastern Orthopedic Center.

Anesthesiologists
Anesthesiologists are physicians trained to administer and manage anesthesia during a surgical procedure. They also manage and treat changes in your breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure during surgery. After surgery, your anesthesiologist will monitor you and treat any conditions related to the anesthesia. |

Physical Therapists
Physical therapists are medical professionals who specialize in motion and mobility issues. They will begin working with you either the day of or the day after your surgery. Therapy will continue for at least four weeks. Your physical therapist will teach you to use a walker and help you increase your movement through exercise. |

Occupational Therapists
Occupational therapists are medical professionals who specialize in helping people perform everyday tasks that are necessary to lead an independent life. Your occupational therapist will help you learn how to dress, bathe, and perform basic household tasks. |

Registered Nurses
Registered nurses provide comfort, care, and education. At Memorial Bone & Joint, our nurses are certified by the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses and have special training in orthopedic care. They will help ensure that you feel comfortable, that your pain is controlled, that you are recovering and meeting your treatment goals, and that you fully understand your treatment plan. |

Case Manager
Case managers work with patients, their families, and insurance providers. They'll monitor you to see that staff recommendations are being followed. They also help file paperwork, arrange future services, and ensure that treatment plans are helping you reach your goals in a cost-efficient manner. |

Program Manager
Your joint program manager will help you arrange appointments, educate you about your surgery, ensure that you attend the required pre-surgical class, and answer any questions you may have.
