Guidelines for Visiting Medical Students
Applications will not be reviewed for admission until June 1 of
the school year you wish to attend. Applications will not be reviewed
unless they are complete. Incomplete applications will be returned
to the student for completion. Accepted students are responsible for
securing their own housing for the rotation. Any questions can be
directed to the medical student program coordinator at the requested
site.

The student must be in his/her
final year of medical school and meet the following criteria:
- The student must be currently enrolled, in good standing, at
an LCME accredited allopathic medicine school or an AOA accredited
osteopathic medicine school.
- The student must provide a copy of a USMLE score sheet showing
that he/she has taken and passed the USMLE Step 1 exam or its equivalent.
- The student must provide proof that he/she has successfully completed
all prerequisites for the courses for which he/she is applying.
- The student must provide proof that his/her school's malpractice
insurance will cover him/her while visiting our facilities. A copy
of the certificate must be attached.
- The student must provide proof that he/she is current on all
vaccinations, including a TB-titer within the preceding six months
and proof of immunity to varicella. Print and attach the immunization
record with the application.
- The student must provide proof that he/she has received training
on infection control and blood-borne pathogens. This can be stated
in the letter of good standing from the medical school.
- The student must provide proof that his/her healthcare insurance
covers him/her while at our organization and that the policy provides
for repatriation in the event of serious illness or death. Attach
a copy of the insurance card.
- When submitting your application, please include a photograph
of yourself.
NOTE: All of the above must be included and verified in a letter
of good standing from your school. Copies of any documents noted
should be attached. Please fax your application and all necessary
admission materials to the Department of Medical Education at 912-350-8998. You should receive a response to your application within 72
hours of submission. You can fill out the online
application form to hold a space in the class while you compile
and mail all of the necessary admission materials.
