Thank you for your interest in Family Medicine Residency Program at Memorial University Medical Center. We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We will accept complete applications for the 2009 – 2010 academic year beginning October 1, 2008. The deadline for applications is December 15, 2008. We seek residents with a definite interest in family medicine, academic talent, and high class standing.
All applications are reviewed through ERAS based on criteria that include but are not limited to:
- Graduated medical school within the last three years
- Passed USMLE Step 1 & 2 with a minimum score of 190 and no more than two attempts
- U.S. clinical experience preferred (medical student clinical rotations)
Please note that we do not offer observership, externship, part-time, or shared positions or visa sponsorship.
A complete application consists of the following:
- Common application form with photograph
- Personal statement
- Dean’s letter
- Medical school transcript
- USMLE step 1 and 2 transcripts
- ECFMG certification (if a foreign medical graduate)
- Four letters of recommendation, including one from a family medicine physician
All applications are reviewed by the program director. If you are selected for an interview, we will send you an e-mail asking you to contact the program coordinator to schedule your interview. Interviews will be scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting November 12, 2008. We will add Tuesday to the interview schedule in December and January. We participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Once an interview is scheduled, you will be sent a confirmation letter. We will provide hotel accommodations the night before your interview at the Courtyard Marriott in Midtown Savannah. Check-in at the hotel is 6 p.m. the night before your interview. Your interview day starts at 8:30 a.m. and you should be done around 3 p.m. Our current residents will take you to lunch on the day of your interview. If you are traveling with a guest, he or she is welcome to join you for lunch. Taxi service is available to take you from the airport to your hotel.
