Welcome
to the Mercer University School of Medicine (Savannah) Obstetrics
and Gynecology Residency Program at Memorial University Medical
Center. I want to thank you for your interest in our residency training
program.
We have an outstanding educational program based in
the tertiary care center for southeastern Georgia. Our program provides
excellent clinical, academic, and practice opportunities for physicians
seeking residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. The residents
receive intensive training in colposcopy, urogynecology, laparoscopy
(including operative and laser laparoscopy), and abdominal and vaginal
procedures.
Our program has 14 full-time faculty members as well as two full-time
genetic counselors. Our faculty has increased the number of patients
on the teaching service and exposed the residents to more diversified
pathology in our discipline. All faculty have a commitment to teaching.
The current resident staff is a close-knit unit of well-motivated
and intelligent people who are working hard to acquire the requisite
knowledge and skills of our specialty. This will allow them to leave
Memorial University Medical Center as capable practitioners of obstetrics and gynecology,
who will be able either to enter clinical practice or sub-specialty
fellowship training.
We look forward to your visit to our program and wish you much success
in choosing a residency that is right for you.
Sincerely,
Donald G. Gallup, M.D.
Professor, Chair and Program Director
