The Mercer University School of Medicine Obstetrics
and Gynecology Residency Program, located at Memorial University Medical Center in
Savannah, Ga., provides excellent clinical, academic, and practice
opportunities for physicians seeking residency training in obstetrics
and gynecology.
After our Residency Review Committee site visit in January 2006,
the RRC accreditated our program for five years and approved our
request to increase our residents to four per level. The RRC also commended our program for "consistent improvement and
excellence in support of graduate medical education." |
Features of the program include:
- Clinic within the hospital with a full range of equipment and facilities
- 8,500 ambulatory care visits per year
- 2,800 deliveries per year
- 1,400 major surgical procedures with resident participation per year
- 14 full-time obstetrics and gynecology physician faculty, including three maternal-fetal medicine faculty members and three gynecologic oncologists
- Ongoing continuity clinics and rotations through internal
medicine and family practice
- Surgical skills laboratory held twice a year for residents
at
all levels for a total of a five-day period
- Strong academic program
