Eric
M. Pearlman, M.D., Ph.D.
Program Director, Pediatric Residency Program at Memorial University
Medical Center
Dr. Eric Pearlman earned his medical degree at the University of
Rochester in 1993 and his Ph.D., also at the University of Rochester,
in neurobiology and anatomy in 1992. He completed a pediatric residency
at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, and did additional training
in pediatric neurology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He
has been a full-time pediatric neurologist since 1998 and an active
participant in the residency program. Dr. Pearlman was named program
director Nov. 1, 2004. He is board certified in pediatrics
and neurology with special competency in child neurology. |

Jean
A. Wright, M.D., MBA
Executive Director of Children's Services, Backus Children's Hospital, and Vice President of Women's and Children's Services at Memorial University Medical Center
Dr. Jean A. Wright joined the faculty at Memorial University
Medical Center in September 2002 as executive director of children's
services. Dr. Wright earned her bachelor's degree from the University
of Michigan and her medical degree from Wayne State University.
She later completed her MBA at the Emory University School of Business.
Dr. Wright did her residency work in pediatrics at the Emory University
Affiliated Residency Program in Atlanta, and she completed a pediatric
anesthesia residency at Emory. Prior to joining Memorial,
Dr. Wright worked at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Egleston
Children's Hospital, Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital. She is
board certified in pediatrics, pediatric critical care, and anesthesia. |

Kasey R. Berman, M.D.
Ambulatory Pediatrics
Dr. Kasey Berman received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. A Savannah native, she completed a three-year pediatric residency at Memorial University Medical Center and subsequently joined the faculty at Backus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Berman is board certified in pediatrics.

Donna
L. Evans, M.D.
Ambulatory Pediatrics
Dr. Donna Evans received her medical degree from the Medical University
of South Carolina in Charleston. She completed a residency in pediatrics
at the Medical University of South Carolina in 1992 and entered
a two-year ambulatory pediatrics fellowship at Memorial University
Medical Center. Upon completion of this fellowship, Dr. Evans was
hired as a full-time faculty member. She is a member of the Child
Fatality Review Committee in Savannah and the Child Fatality Task
Force at Memorial. Dr. Evans is board certified in pediatrics. |

Cynthia
Gonzales, M.D.
Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Gonzales is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at Backus Children's
Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center. She has clinical interests
in bleeding disorders and cancer genetics. Dr. Gonzales attended
the University of the Philippines and the University of the Philippines
College of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Cook
County Children's Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Gonzales is a member
of the Children's Oncology Group and is a registered investigator
with the National Cancer Institute. She speaks English, Tagalog,
and Chinese. Dr. Gonzales is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. |

M. Hogan, M.D.
Hospitalist
Dr. Natalie Hogan received her medical degree from the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta. She completed a residency in pediatrics
at Richland Memorial Hospital University of South Carolina School
of Medicine, Columbia, S.C., in 1997. She then entered
a one-year ambulatory pediatrics fellowship at Memorial University
Medical Center. Upon completion of this fellowship, Dr. Hogan joined
Memorial as a part-time faculty member. She is board certified in pediatrics. |

Christopher Peter Houk, M.D.
Pediatric Endocrinology
Dr. Christopher Houk received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia, S.C., in 1997. He completed a pediatric residency at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C., and went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Houk is board certified in pediatric endocrinology. |

Martin Johnston, M.D.
Director, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Martin Johnston received his medical degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C. He went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. He completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Washington University Medical Center. Dr. Johnston is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology.

Mary Carol Lytle, M.D.
Pediatric Critical Care
Dr. Mary Carol Lytle received her medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. She completed a pediatric residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in Milwaukee. She went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric critical care at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and a fellowship in research at the Blood Research Institute in Milwaukee. Dr. Mary Carol Lytle is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care. |

Hospitalist/Pediatric Infectious Diseases
Dr. Susan Mazo completed her medical education at the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta, and her pediatric residency at the University
of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich. After completing her
residency, Dr. Mazo began a pediatric infectious diseases fellowship
at the University of Michigan Hospitals. She joined the pediatric
faculty at Memorial University Medical Center in 1986 as the pediatric infectious diseases
specialist. Dr. Mazo is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases. |

W. McKee, M.D.
Pediatric Critical Care
Dr. Thomas W. McKee received his medical degree from the Medical
University of South Carolina in Charleston. He completed a residency
in pediatrics at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock in
1981. From 1981 to 1985, Dr. McKee served as associate director
of pediatric education. He began a fellowship in pediatric critical
care medicine at Shands Hospital - University of Florida in 1985.
In 1986, Dr. McKee assumed the position of director of pediatric
critical care at Memorial University Medical Center. Dr. McKee is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric critical care. |
