David Deen, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCNSP, is a clinical pharmacist specializing in critical care. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and his Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Pittsburgh with emphasis in critical care. Deen is dual board certified as a pharmacotherapy specialist and a nutrition support pharmacist. He holds academic appointments as clinical assistant professor at South University School of Pharmacy and adjunct assistant professor at Mercer University College of Pharmacy. He is an active member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Deen’s research and practice interests include alcohol withdrawal, neuro critical care, sedation, delirium, and nutritional considerations within the ICU. |

Ken Jozefczyk, R.Ph., M.S., FASHP, is the director of pharmacy at Memorial University Medical Center. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at Wayne State University. He then received his Master of Science and completed a pharmacy practice residency at The Ohio State University. Prior to joining Memorial in 2001, Jozefczyk was director of pharmacy at West Virginia University Hospitals. He is a past president of the West Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacists and is a fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He is currently president-elect of the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He holds academic appointments at the University of Georgia, South University, and Mercer University where he also serves on the College of Pharmacy’s Board of Visitors. In 2009 Jozefczyk was honored with the GSHP Pharmacist of the Year award. |

W. Klugh Kennedy, Pharm.D., BCPP, FASHP, is associate professor of pharmacy and psychiatry at Mercer University School of Medicine - Savannah campus. He holds a joint appointment with the Mercer College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the Mercer Medical School. Kennedy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Georgia and then a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Idaho State University. He is board certified in psychiatric pharmacy. He is a fellow of the American Society of Health-system Pharmacists. His teaching, clinical service, and scholarly interests are in the areas of schizophrenia and other psychopharmacology, geriatrics, psychosomatics, associated critical care issues, experiential and interdisciplinary education, substance related disorders, and evidence-based practice. Kennedy has published and presented on these topics locally, regionally, and nationally. |

Michael J. Melroy, Pharm.D., BCPS, is the manager of pharmacy and our residency program director. Melroy earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the James A. Haley V.A. in Tampa. He then came to Memorial as a clinical pharmacist in critical care. He started Memorial’s pharmacy residency program in 1999, then became the clinical coordinator and is now the department manager. Melroy is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist with faculty appointments at the UGA College of Pharmacy, Mercer College of Pharmacy, and South University School of Pharmacy. |

She completed a pharmacy practice residency at St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System in Savannah. She received her board certification as a pharmacotherapy specialist in 2009. Schoeffler is an adjunct assistant professor with Mercer University and also a reviewer for The Annals of Pharmacotherapy. She is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). Her practice interests include critical care, infectious diseases, cardiology, and clinical research.

Karyn Taylor, Pharm.D., is a clinical pharmacist specializing in pediatric critical care, oncology, and medicine at Memorial University Medical Center. She is responsible for patients in our pediatric ICU, inpatient oncology, medicine, and surgery units, as well as the pediatric E.R. and outpatient oncology. Taylor has teaching responsibilities that include pharmacy students, nurses, and the pediatric medical team at Memorial. She is a member of the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG). Taylor received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Montana in 2001 and completed her pharmacy practice residency at Memorial University Medical Center in 2002.
