The General Surgery Residency Program at the
Mercer University School of Medicine – Savannah Campus at Memorial
University Medical Center will
offer three categorical positions for the upcoming academic year.
No preliminary positions are offered. Applications are accepted
only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Additional information regarding the program can be accessed via
the American Medical Association's FREIDA
Online.
We review applicants that have graduated from
an LCME (The Liaison Committee on Medical Education) accredited medical school within the last two years and have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), steps 1 and 2 (by the second attempt) with a minimum score of 200 on both steps. Only completed applications are considered. To be complete, the following information must be received through ERAS:
- Photo
- Common application form
- Personal statement
- Official copies of USMLE transcript of scores (steps 1 and
2)
- School transcript
- Three letters of recommendation
- Dean's letter
*The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) is the nationally
recognized accrediting authority for medical education programs leading to the
M.D. degree in U.S. and Canadian medical schools. The LCME is sponsored by the
Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical
Association.
If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted via
e-mail to schedule a date for your interview. Be sure to include
your e-mail address as part of your ERAS application. Once you have
been selected to interview, plan to arrive in Savannah the afternoon
before your interview. Interviews are scheduled on Saturdays between
November 1 and January 31. The deadline for applications is December
15.
