The General Surgery Residency Program at the Mercer University School of Medicine - Savannah Campus at Memorial University Medical Center will offer four categorical positions for the upcoming academic year. No preliminary positions are offered. Applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Additional information regarding the program can be accessed via the American Medical Association's FREIDA Online.

Applicants should be graduates of an LCME* (The Liaison Committee on Medical Education) accredited medical school within the last two years and have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE), Steps 1 and 2 (by the second attempt) with a minimum score of 200 on both steps. Only completed applications are considered. To be complete, the following information must be received through ERAS:

  • Common Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Dean’s Letter
  • Medical School Transcript
  • Official copies of USMLE transcript of scores (Steps 1 and 2)
  • Personal Statement
  • Photo
  • Three Letters of Recommendation

*The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) is the nationally recognized accrediting authority for medical education programs leading to the M.D. degree in U.S. and Canadian medical schools. The LCME is sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges and the American Medical Association.

If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted via e-mail to schedule a date for your interview. Be sure to include your e-mail address as part of your ERAS application. Once you have been selected to interview, plan to arrive in Savannah the afternoon before your interview. Interviews are scheduled on Thursdays between November 1 and January 31. The deadline for applications is December 1st.
