We invite you to learn more about Memorial University Medical Center’s mission, vision, and values.

Our nursing vision: Experience and share the joy of nursing.
Our nurses are encouraged to celebrate their successes, advance their careers, and have fun at work.
They enjoy the following special services:
- Shared Governance – This governing structure allows nurses to influence the decisions that affect their practice.
- Nursing Center of Excellence – This multi-purpose space includes a computer resource and research room and a place to display the scholarly works of our nurses.
- Chief Nursing Officer Office Hours – Karen Watts, MSN, R.N., is our senior vice president and chief nursing officer. She has open office hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays and invites nurses to stop by and ask questions, make suggestions, or voice their concerns.
- Nursing Portal – This online tool gives our nurses access to company news, hospital policies, educational opportunities, and links to various programs they use throughout the day.
- Nursing Vision Newsletter – Our quarterly publication is written for nurses by nurses.
- Nurses Week – During the annual Nurses Week in May, nursing leadership does something special for the nurses each day. In 2007, nurses were treated to chair massages, free pizzas, and a free beach mat or barbecue kit. Nursing Excellence Awards were presented to outstanding nurses and all Team Members were invited to participate in a Nurses Week fun run.
- Shirley Hood Byrant Nursing Scholarship – Shirley Hood Bryant was a respected and loved nursing supervisor who passed away. Every year, a $1,000 scholarship is awarded in her name to a Team Member enrolled in nursing school.
