The Rehabilitation Institute at Memorial University
Medical Center offers a full-service hand therapy clinic. It is
one of the largest and most well-equipped clinics in southeast Georgia. We specialize in the treatment of the following hand injuries:
- Tendon and nerve lacerations
- Crush injuries
- Complex fractures
- Work-related injuries
- Burns
- Replants
- Involved wounds
Every hand rehabilitation patient receives a thorough assessment
and individualized treatment plan to maximize potential and speed the return to a regular lifestyle and work. Patients may also be
referred to one of our other programs for further refinement.
Services and techniques available in our hand rehabilitation
program include:
- On-site whirlpool
- Computerized Greenleaf evaluations to determine hand function and extent of damage
- Impairment ratings
- BTE Work Simulator to simulate the real-life
work environment
- Continuous passive motion devices to simulate
smooth joint motion
- Electric stimulation
- Fluidotherapy (using heat and a wavelike motion to reduce pain
and swelling and increase range of motion)
