The Hyperbaric Medicine Center provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO), transcutaneous studies (TCOM),
and wound care.
During HBO therapy, patients are enclosed in a vessel called a hyperbaric chamber.
While inside, they breathe 100 percent oxygen at a pressure greater than one atmosphere.
This unique treatment can benefit people with the following conditions:
- Acute air or gas embolism
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Cyanide poisoning
- Crush injury
- Decompression illness
- Blood loss anemia
- Gas gangrene
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections
- Osteomyelitis
- Soft tissue radionecrosis
- Actinomycosis
- Compromised skin grafts/flaps
- Selected problem wounds
Throughout the treatment process, we follow guidelines established by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society.
The Hyperbaric Medicine Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A hyperbaric technologist/nurse and hyperbaric physician are on call 24 hours a day for emergency situations.
You must be referred to the Hyperbaric Medicine Center by your physician.
You will then meet with a certified hyperbaric physician for evaluation and treatment planning.
