    Vice President of Strategic Programs and Physician Integration

    Angela Mixon, MSN, R.N., CSFNP, was named vice president of strategic programs and physician integration in 2013. She oversees clinical services, hospital medicine services, inpatient medicine, and the standards within the various centers of excellence at Memorial University Medical Center. She also works closely with the physician champions within those programs.

    Mixon joined Memorial University Medical Center in 1994 as a registered nurse in the medical/surgical unit. She later became a family nurse practitioner and spent eight years providing primary care with an emphasis on women’s health.

    In 2007, Mixon was asked to serve as director of service excellence at Memorial. In that role, she helped to implement patient and family centered care as the model of care throughout Memorial. She also managed operations for a number of medical/surgical units and inpatient oncology. In 2009, Mixon was named clinical director of Memorial’s neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery divisions. She led the implementation of a telemedicine platform for stroke and developed the spine surgery and joint replacement centers of excellence. By 2011, Mixon was managing all aspects of inpatient medicine and the centers of excellence, including quality, strategic planning, process improvement, physician contracts, revenue cycle, and budget management.

    Mixon earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. She also earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree at Georgia Southern, and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau national honor society. She is a licensed family nurse practitioner.
