Memorial University Medical Center has technologically
advanced surgical suites where surgeons perform intricate, life-saving procedures every day. Our Operating Room 21 (OR 21)
is a fully
computerized, PC-based surgical suite. It includes touch-screen
monitors and a computer system that can do everything from adjusting
the lighting in the room to controlling laproscopic cameras during surgery. In addition, OR
21 can be pre-programmed to meet the specific needs of individual surgeons
and procedures. This operating room is used primarily for laproscopic or
minimally invasive surgery.
Our OR 20 is a state-of-the-art endovascular suite.
It offers highly specialized services that utilize the latest technologies
available to treat vascular disease. In OR 20,
surgeons can perform innovative
catheter-based techniques for vascular disease in a safe, cost-effective
manner. Both OR 21 and OR 20 were the first facilities of their kind in
southeast Georgia.
Memorial University Medical Center also has a comprehensive Day Surgery Center where outpatient
procedures (surgeries that do not require hospitalization) are performed every
day. Both our Day Surgery Center and our regular operating rooms include
comfortable recovery areas where patients are monitored closely to ensure that
there are no complications after surgery.
If your loved one is undergoing surgery, you can track his or her progress
through our NaviCare patient tracking system. We will give you a code word or
number that represents your loved one. You can then watch the code from the
NaviCare monitors in our comfortable waiting rooms. The monitor is updated in real time, so
you'll be able to see exactly when your loved one moves from our pre-op area through
surgery and into the recovery area.
