William Hoskins, M.D., Named One of the Nation's Top Gynecological Oncologists

(April 10, 2002) - William J. Hoskins, M.D., Director of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Health University Medical Center (MHUMC), has been named one the nation's top physicians in the field of gynecological oncology by Ladies' Home Journal magazine. The magazine recently published a comprehensive directory of the nation's best doctors in three women's health fields: obstetrics/gynecology, gynecological oncology, and breast-cancer specialists. The magazine names Hoskins as one of only nine top gynecological oncologists in the Southeast and the only one in Georgia. The directory of physicians was developed by Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd., a research and information company established in 1992 to help people find the best healthcare. Hoskins, an internationally known and respected oncologist and an innovator of surgical techniques for gynecologic cancers, came to MHUMC from the renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In September, Hoskins was named by Gov. Roy Barnes as one of the state's eminent cancer specialists for the Georgia Cancer Coalition. Hoskins is board certified in both obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology, and is author or more than 200 articles and 30 book chapters.
