(October 6, 2008) – Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) is pleased to announce the promotion of Patricia Lavely to senior vice president and chief information officer. This promotion reflects the increasingly important role of information technology at Memorial Health and in the healthcare industry.
In her new role, Lavely will oversee the day-to-day operations and strategy of the 90 employees and $17 million dollar budget of MUMC’s information services department. She will work with community healthcare leaders and coordinate with clinicians to enhance the use of advanced clinical systems. Lavely will also provide leadership and support to a number of committees working to improve and develop information technology in the Savannah community.
Lavely joined MUMC in 2006. She is a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. She serves as chairperson of the Georgia Healthcare Information Technology & Transparency Advisory Board, chairperson of the Chatham County Safety Net IT Committee, and is a member of South University IT Programs Advisory Committee. Lavely is certified by the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a certified professional in healthcare information management.
She earned her bachelor’s degree at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia, and her master’s degree in business administration at Florida State University.
