Donald Gallup Honored as Distinguished Surgeon of the Year

(April 14, 2009) - Donald Gallup, M.D., a gynecologic oncologist at Memorial University Medical Center and ACI -- Surgical Associates, has been honored by the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS) as the Distinguished Surgeon of the year. Gallup has been at Memorial for 12 years and is professor, chair, and program director of obstetrics and gynecology at Mercer University School of Medicine (Savannah). He is also the associate director of gynecologic oncology. Gallup, a past president of SGS, has also served as president of the South Atlantic Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The SGS is recognized as a select member group of approximately 300 physicians representing both private practice and academic faculty -- all involved in teaching and the practice of advanced gynecologic surgery. Memorial University Medical Center is a two-state healthcare organization serving a 35-county area in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina.
