Golfing for a Cure Raises Record Sum for Cancer Care

(May 19, 2010) - The annual Landings Women's Golf Association (LWGA) "Golfing for a Cure" event raised a record $55,000 for the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute (ACI) at Memorial University Medical Center. This is the second installment of a $250,000 pledge made by the LWGA to the ACI. A total of 268 LWGA members participated in the event at the Landings' three golf courses.

The tournament sponsor was Prudential Southeast Coastal Properties. In addition to all the golfers, there were many individual donors, hole sponsors, honoring and memorial sponsors as well as raffle contributors which made this tournament a success.

The LWGA has 600 members and is the largest women's golf membership association in the country. The group has pledged to raise at least $250,000 for cancer treatment services at the ACI.
