Welcome to Memorial Minimally Invasive Surgery, a center for laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgical techniques at Memorial University Medical Center.
Thanks to minimally invasive surgery (MIS), skilled surgeons can perform major, life-changing operations with tiny incisions (often smaller than 1 inch). During MIS, a surgeon manipulates tiny tools and cameras on the end of a thin, flexible tube called a laparoscope. Another type of MIS, called robotic surgery, uses a high-tech system of arms that mimic the surgeon’s hand movements.
Because the incisions are so small, MIS typically results in a faster recovery, less scarring, and a quicker return to normal activities.
Memorial Minimally Invasive Surgery is led by experienced and board-certified surgeons Christopher Senkowski, M.D., and Oliver Whipple, M.D. Working with world-class surgical teams, they offer MIS options for a variety of medical conditions. We invite you to explore our site, using the links on the left, to learn more about what we offer.
To find out if you are a candidate for MIS, ask your physician for a referral to Memorial Minimally Invasive Surgery. Call 912-350-9672 for more information.
