Our plastic surgery teams specialize in the following procedures.

Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction involves rebuilding a natural-looking breast after a mastectomy. It can be performed at the same time as the mastectomy or in a later surgery. The goal of breast reconstruction is to create a breast mound that closely matches the form, appearance, and symmetry of the natural breast. This can be done with expanders and implants or with the use of the patient's own tissue. Learn more about breast reconstruction surgery.

TRAM Flap
This surgery involves covering a mastectomy wound with the women's own natural tissue. Surgeons create a transverse rectus abdominous muscle (TRAM) flap by removing fat, skin, and muscle from the abdomen. Plastic surgeons then create a breast mound that closely matches the natural breast.

DIEP Flap
The deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap surgery removes the patient’s own skin, soft tissue, and feeding blood vessels, usually from the lower abdomen, without damaging abdominal muscles. This tissue, with its working blood vessels, is reattached to recipient vessels at the mastectomy site by means of a high-definition microscope.

Mammaplasty (Breast Augmentation)
The term mammaplasty refers to any surgery to change the appearance of the breasts, including implant insertion or removal, breast reduction, and breast lift. Although it is cosmetic and often elective, mammaplasty is considered major surgery and must be performed by a skilled plastic surgeon. Learn more about breast augmentation.
