Baby Basics Class
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This three-week course provides information on caring for a newborn
and addresses the needs of a changing family. Budgeting for your
baby's arrival, breastfeeding, infant growth and development, and
infant and child CPR are included (not designed for people who need
to be CPR certified). This class is strongly recommended for first-time
parents. Register early because the class fills quickly. The cost
is $45 per couple.
Basic Breastfeeding Class
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother
planning to breastfeed. Topics include nutrition, common concerns,
returning to work while breastfeeding, and the father's role in
breastfeeding. Your support person is encouraged to attend. The
cost is $20 per couple. The class fills quickly so register early.
Perinatal Tour
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Want to take a look around before the big day? Register to tour
the labor and delivery suites, nursery, and postpartum areas of
the Women's Health Institute at Memorial Health University Medical
Center. The tour is free and open to the public, but pre-registration
is required.
Multiple Blessings
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Series scheduled on an as needed basis.
This four-session course is designed especially for parents expecting twins, triplets, or more. Please plan to attend this class early in your pregnancy. Our experienced staff and mothers of multiples will provide information on prenatal care, the multiple birth experience, newborn care, and life at home with more than one baby. The cost is $40 per couple. To register, call 598-1839.
Prepared Childbirth Course
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This four-week course provides an overview of reproductive anatomy
and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in
simple, easy-to-understand terms. Relaxation, breathing techniques,
and comfort measures to use during labor and delivery are demonstrated.
The course includes a tour of the labor and delivery area. The cost
is $75 per couple. Class fills up quickly, so register early.
