Lactation Services

The team at the Women's Health Institute at Memorial Health University Medical Center believes that breastfeeding can be a wonderful experience for you and your baby, and can help you develop a close and special relationship. While breastfeeding is a natural process, it is also a learned art.

We have a board-certified lactation consultant on our team to provide education about breastfeeding, advice on dealing with problems, and tips on how to continue breastfeeding when returning to work. Additional lactation services include:

• Inpatient assistance – bedside counseling, education, and assistance for moms with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery.
• Telephone counseling – a 24-hour Warmline that provides answers to commonly asked questions and concerns about breastfeeding. The Warmline number is 912-350-8164.
• Breastfeeding education – breastfeeding classes for both expectant moms and new moms.
• Office consultation – Our lactation consultant will meet one-on-one with all physician referrals and self-referrals by appointment. Schedule an appointment by calling the Warmline at 912-350-8164.
• Equipment and supplies – electric breast pumps are available for short- and long-term rental. Manual breast pumps, supplemental feeding systems, and other breastfeeding supplies are for sale at reasonable prices.

If you are a breastfeeding mom and you need assistance, all the Warmline at 912-350-8164.
