    The Rehabilitation Institute at Memorial University Medical Center offers a full-service hand therapy clinic. It is one of the largest and most well-equipped clinics in southeast Georgia. We specialize in the treatment of the following hand injuries:

    • Tendon and nerve lacerations
    • Crush injuries
    • Complex fractures
    • Work-related injuries
    • Burns
    • Replants
    • Involved wounds

    Every hand rehabilitation patient receives a thorough assessment and individualized treatment plan to maximize potential and speed the return to a regular lifestyle and work. Patients may also be referred to one of our other programs for further refinement.

    Services and techniques available in our hand rehabilitation program include:

    • Manual therapy
    • Therapeutic exercises including a work simulator that duplicates real-world home and work functions 
    • Treatment for pain and stiffness including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, paraffin bath, and continuous passive motion
    • Electric stimulation
    • Fluidotherapy (using heat and a wavelike motion to reduce pain and swelling and increase range of motion)
    • Work conditioning
    • Matheson functional capacity evaluation
