Perinatal tests are performed in the weeks just before or immediately after birth. Perinatal testing is used to monitor women with high-risk conditions such as diabetes or health problems. Perinatal testing can also check for and monitor medical conditions in the fetus or newborn.
Memorial University Medical Center is one of only six perinatal testing centers in the state of Georgia and serves as the referral center for all of southeast Georgia. Our perinatal testing center is staffed by three perinatologists who specialize in high-risk pregnancies. They are available 24 hours a day to consult with your physician, perform tests, and develop a plan of action for your care. They also care for high-risk moms who are transferred to Memorial University Medical Center from other hospitals.
