James “Jamie” Watson Jr., was named vice president of the revenue cycle at Memorial Health in 2013. Watson oversees the revenue cycle for all entities within the organization. He is also responsible for patient through-put, case management, bed placement, patient transport, and non-emergency transport.
Watson first joined Memorial as an information desk clerk in 1997. He later spent two years working as a business systems analyst within Memorial’s information services department. He was promoted to director of patient intake in 2005. That role was expanded to director of patient through-put in 2009 and included case management with a focus on hospital through-put. Watson later led a revenue cycle transformation that helped Memorial Health realize a $25 million improvement in collections
Watson holds a Bachelor of Health Science Administration degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the American Case Management Association, and the American Clinical Documentation Improvement Society.
