Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering at Memorial Health. Our volunteer program allows individuals to make a difference by enhancing the quality of patient care through donated service hours. Our dedicated volunteers are an integral part of our family, providing valuable support in a variety of departments throughout our facilities.

Where do I fit in?

Volunteers make an important contribution to our healthcare team. There are many areas throughout the hospital that rely on volunteers for assistance. They include the information desks, visitor management at secured access areas, non-clinical assistance in the emergency department, outpatient surgery and nursing stations, as well as clerical support areas such as greeters.

You may be asked to perform any number of duties as a volunteer. You could assist with mailing services, serve as a receptionist, help at community health screenings or provide wheelchair transportation for discharged patients. The volunteer manager works with you to match your skills and interests with the hospital's needs. We want your volunteer experience to be rewarding.

Who can volunteer?

You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer. You are never too old to volunteer or expected to put in long hours. You need only volunteer a minimum of four hours a week. We hope our volunteers will bring their passion and commit to a long-term, rewarding experience with our program.

VolunTEEN Program

The VolunTEEN Program is for area students between 15 and 18 years old looking for a rewarding way to spend a portion of their summer. These participants will gain experience at a Level 1 Trauma Center, the region’s only Children’s Hospital and Level III NICU.

We want applicants who can commit to at least 40 hours over six weeks. Volunteens will spend their days bringing smiles and laughter to the hospital while gaining knowledge of the healthcare world.

Applications must be submitted before having a scheduled interview. Qualified applicants will receive an interview confirmation link once their application is received. Please note:

  • This program is only from June to July; start and end dates vary yearly.
  • Applications are on a first-come, first-serve basis and are only accepted between February 5 - March 28 of the same year. We do not hold applications for interested students wanting to participate in this program. Each student must apply each year and return applications during the open window.

How do I become a volunteer?

All volunteers must complete an application, authorize a criminal background check, attend an orientation, and complete a health screening (at the expense of Memorial Health University Medical Center) prior to starting their volunteer assignment.
