Memorial Health announces new Chief Medical Officer

Fausto Devecchi, MD, will serve as the Chief Medical Officer for the Memorial Health system.

Memorial Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Fausto Devecchi, MD, as its new chief medical officer (CMO). He joined the health system’s executive leadership team on September 15.

“Dr. Devecchi is a talented physician leader and we are excited to have him join our Memorial Health team,” said Brad Talbert, chief executive officer. “He has 20-plus years of combined clinical and leadership experience in healthcare organizations and has held physician executive roles within HCA Healthcare for the past several years. His experience will most certainly benefit our patients, our medical staff and our community.”

He most recently served as CMO for the HCA HealthOne Aurora Hospital/ Centennial/Spaulding Rehabilitation/Mental Health & Wellness multi-campus in the greater Denver, Colorado area. Dr. Devecchi’s facilities there were highly regarded for their quality outcomes and successful Joint Commission surveys. He previously served as assistant chief medical officer for HCA Medical City Healthcare in Dallas, Texas. There, he championed improvements in clinical quality and patient throughput. Dr. Devecchi’s first physician leadership role at HCA Healthcare was at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola where he served as physician advisor and led the quality and safety and physician relations departments. He was also the administrative clinical lead during the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Devecchi has earned the CHCQM (Certified in Health Care Quality and Management) certification from the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, Inc. (ABQAURP), demonstrating expertise in healthcare quality and management as well as a Certificate in Quality and Safety from the National Patient Safety Foundation. He is recognized as a Certified Physician Executive by the American Association for Physician Leadership and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).

Dr. Devecchi is originally from northwest Italy. He earned his Doctor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Turin in Turin, Italy, and completed his internal medicine residency at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI, where he also served as chief resident. Following his residency, he completed a cardiovascular disease fellowship at University of Iowa Roy. J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, where he served as chief fellow, and then completed a clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Brown University. His education continued at Isenberg School of Management at UMass Amherst where he earned his Master of Business Administration.
