Children's spine services we offer
Our spine specialists offer personalized treatments that cater to your child's unique needs.
Neurological spine disorder treatment
If your child has a spine condition that has neurological implications, our specialists are here to offer neurological care. Should your child require extra monitoring, our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) provide compassionate, 24/7 support.
Neurological spine conditions, such as a tethered spinal cord or Chiari malformation, may require surgery. Should that be the case, our pediatric spine surgeons may collaborate with physical rehabilitation specialists to work toward the success of your child's postsurgical journey.
Scoliosis care
If your child is suspected to have scoliosis, our specialists provide diagnostic screenings that include in-depth family history, a thorough physical exam and an X-ray. If scoliosis is confirmed, there are multiple treatments that may be recommended in collaboration with a pediatric orthopedic specialist with your child's overall health and best interest in mind.
Observation
Observing your child's spine is the most minimally invasive form of treatment our specialists offer. It may be recommended that their progress be monitored over time, due to the fact that your child is still growing and the mild nature of their spinal curve.
Bracing
Our pediatric spine specialists may offer bracing as a form of treatment if the curve of your child's spine is moderate. If bracing is used early on, it can oftentimes prevent the need for surgery later in life.
Surgery
Surgical correction may be needed if the curve in your child's spine is severe. Our pediatric surgeons collaborate with other pediatric specialists, including:
- Anesthesiologists
- Child life specialists
- Spine surgeons
- Nurses
- Occupational therapists
- Physical therapists
