For visitors at Memorial Health University Medical Center

Visiting our hospital

To make your visit as comfortable and convenient as possible, we give you access to on-site coffee, daily meals and complimentary Wi-Fi. Our policies also help to protect your well-being.

Information for our visitors

These details are meant to prepare you for your upcoming visit, so you know what we offer and the guidelines we have set in place for you.

Visiting hours at our hospital

We understand how important it is for your loved one to have you with them while they receive medical care. You can visit them throughout the week at the following times:

  • Main entrance — Monday through Sunday, from 6:00am to 8:00 pm
  • Heart and Vascular Institute — Monday through Friday, from 5:00am to 8:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday, from 6:00am to 8:00pm

Visitation restrictions

Circumstances may allow for specific exceptions to any visitation restrictions described on this webpage. Those circumstances include religious visitation as well as a designated support person for a patient with a disability to provide assistance with communication or other necessary components of the patient's treatment. All persons entering under an exception remain subject to appropriate infection control protocols.

Visitation requirements

During visiting hours, you should enter through our hospital’s main entrance or the Heart and Vascular Institute entrance. If you are accompanying your loved one for surgery, please use our day surgery entrance. It is open Monday through Friday, from 4:30am to 3:30pm.

Our intensive care units (ICUs) also have specific safety protocols in place. You will see these posted outside the unit prior to entering, and you can also review our ICU visitor guidelines prior to your visit.

Designated support person

Upon admission to our hospital, we ask your loved one or their family member to identify one or two representatives to receive updates about their condition. Your loved one and their support person(s) are assigned a personal identification number (PIN) to protect their information.

The support person(s) will be asked to carry out some responsibilities on their loved one's behalf, including communicating updates to family and friends and making decisions when necessary. Selected representatives don't need to be a legal decision maker. However, if there is a dispute over this representation, legal documentation must be provided.

Patient and family centered care (PFCC) initiative

Our PFCC initiative allows you and your loved ones to be involved in care and work as part of our healthcare team. You are invited to participate in decision-making and may even help with certain procedures. You can have as much or as little involvement as you want, based on your own comfort level. The core concepts of PFCC include:

  • Collaboration — Our healthcare leaders work with you and your loved one to constantly improve their level of care.
  • Dignity and respect — We honor the family’s choices and respect their decisions.
  • Information sharing — Our providers communicate with your loved one and their family in a timely, complete and accurate manner.
  • Participation — Your loved one and their family are encouraged to participate in care and decision-making.

We are proud to offer this innovative style of care for you, your loved one and their family. If you have questions or concerns at any time, please call our 24/7 service line at (912) 350-8581.
