  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Chronic gas, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea or constipation
  • Constantly feeling swollen or bloated
  • Feeling tired all the time
  • Frequent, urgent, difficult or painful urination
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Pressure, discomfort or a mass in the lower abdomen or pelvic area
  • Severe burning, itching or pain in the genital area
  • Shortness of breath
  • Skin changes on the vulva
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Vaginal with an unusual color or odor

Any woman who has received a gynecological cancer diagnosis should seek the expertise of a gynecological oncologist.

Screening for women's cancers

A Pap smear is the primary screening method for cervical cancer, where cells are collected from the cervix and examined for potential abnormalities. Talk to your doctor about when you should begin scheduling regular Pap smears, but typically this begins at 21 years old. If a woman receives an abnormal Pap smear, testing may need to be more frequent.
